I have a cutting from an epidendrum radicans that I have placed in a small amount of water. Has it grown keikis? Should I remove them?

I keep coming back to see if anyone was able to help you with your question and seeing no comments. I really don’t know much about epidendrums, but I’m very interested. I wasn’t even aware that there were orchids you could propagate from cuttings. This is really cool. Hopefully someone with more epi experience can help.
2개 좋아요Thanks! :) I got these cuttings from someone who started their plant from cuttings, so it must be possible! lol I’ve got some cuttings in orchid mix and some in water, and the ones that are in water all have 2-3 growths like the ones pictured! It’s my first time growing epidendrum as, so I’m excited to see how it goes!

I have little experience with epidendrums. And mine is in ROUGH shape. From what I understand, they will send out offshoots like those you are experiencing. I would treat them like a typical keikis - do not detach until they are large enough and have enough roots development to allow it to support itself independently from the mother plant. Usually it seems 2” is the target on both sides of the soil.

I hope it helps. Honestly, if you saw my epidendrum you’d go to anyone one else for advice 🙀 Good luck and please let us know what happens. I am super curious about this.
