My Ludisia Discolor Jewel orchid finally popped her popcorn kernels! Was fun to watch! Really did look like popcorn right before opening blooms! Lol.

Good morning Danika! Long story short (maybe) - a business trip has extended due to everyone’s “favorite” Covid. Now I am shut in a hotel with nothing to entertain me but scrolling through Etsy. I am a hair away from buying every jewel orchid. Do you have any advice before falling down that rabbit hole?

Lol, oh dear! But fun! But honestly, you can’t go wrong with these guys. Once i started letting the ludisia dry out a bit between waterings, it seems to be happy and easy to flower. Pretty easy going orchid! If you see leaves turning pink, thats the equivalent of a yellow leaf on a green plant. That kinda threw me when i first got them. My lightning jewel is super super tiny and lives in a mostly closed dome along with another Chapaensis jewel, in sphagnum moss. The lightning grows really really slow. Which is normal for them, so my advise is to get that variety in a more adult form. The chapaensis grows faster and bigger. That would be my top pick for easy to grow out of the 2. Happy buying!
