Hey there! This moth orchid has been slowly dying for months and I have no idea how to resurrect it. It’s been repotted into sphagnum moss and kept humid, been outside while it’s hot and lots of summer rain, maybe 4h of direct sunlight but lots of indirect. Any advice?

She doesn’t look that bad, it has some green healthy roots. And the leaves look fine. I’ve had success with putting them in water, you could research that. Also I have planted them in orchid mix soil. If you have a dead flower stem I would cut that back.

Also trim away any dead or mushy roots

Appreciate it! I will do those things. The leaves are very thin and seem wilted with one going yellow-brown it’s not as clear in the photos, is that an issue?

Leaves can die off , I would leave it until you can see that it’s completely dying off.

It looks dehydrated to me. A well hydrated plant will have leaves that are smooth and firm, free of wrinkles. I would cut away any dead roots and the flower spikes as suggested above. Pot in a 50% sphagnum 50% bark mix and use an orchid pot with ventilated sides. The media should be light and allow water to drain away immediately. You want the roots you have to dry out between waterings. When it’s time to water, soak the pot for 10-15 minutes. I use fertilizer each time I water at 1/4 strength and flush the pot monthly with water to remove accumulated salts. Good luck!

I would try and water you moth orchid more frequently. Maybe that would help. Also keep watching and see if it’s just the leaves or the whole plant

I would recommend giving it a little less light. The leaves look like they might be burning a bit to me. I would touch the leaves to see if they feel warm if so I’d give them less light. I’ve accidentally burned my orchid by giving it too much light too!
