Hi, I’m new to this plant life. I received Vernene (my orchid) about a month ago, ALL the leaves fell off. The stem is now looking like it’s dying. What am I doing wrong or should I jut throw it out?

So you can cut the stem down to lowest node that still green or all the way to base if no node. Repot and cut away any roots that look rotted and unhealthy (make sure your cutting tool is sterilized by heating it first or alcohol and rinse) When you cut stem add some cinnamon to the raw edge. Repot tightly into well draining container with orchid mix. If the roots were rotting dont water yet and let it sit. If it's bone dry give it a water. When I water you can let it sit in a bowl of water for 20 min to soak wood chips or orchid mix. Then thoroughly drain and place near window with some indirect sun. It can take a very long time to regrow the stem, but it can happen. I have one my daughter had that I'm trying to save. So far stem hasn't grown back but roots are now very healthy and leaves are nice and healthy and growing new leaves. Also don't use ice to water. It will eventually kill the roots. And water aprox every 10 days to 14 days. Don't water exactly weekly like supermarket tags say. Err on side of longer without water. Mist occasionally if you like. Think if it as an air plant. It will hopefully begin to grow leaves and new roots and and make a comeback. It's not necessarily a gonna if you try those steps.

Do some research on orchids. But that looks totally normal to me. The flowers fall off and the stem dies. I cut it off. A few weeks later a new stem is growing and flowering. I watched YouTube videos on reporting. I have 3 different ones in my brightest window. I learned to never water with ice cubes because they’re tropical plants. The cold is shocking to the roots. If the leaves are green and plump, it’s healthy. It just may not be flowering at the moment, but it will.
5 LikesYour orchid looks fine to me. Looks like the flowers have died off but that is normal. Definitely research orchid care.

Your orchid actually looks really good. I would just cut back the stem that is yellowing and keep up with regular watering. I have several that I cut the stems back a while ago and they sprout new roots and leaves, then one day two new stems from each one popped out.
