Trying to figure out how to save my mom’s orchid… leaves are droopy and shrivelled, one is even papery thin/dried up. Upon inspection I realized it basically doesn’t have any roots in the potting medium anymore, only the aerial roots! Help please??? What should I do?

I’d put more orchid bark in it and water it

Nail it to a tree, it will essentially find whatever fungus is on that tree and sap it’s nutrients, whenever it seems happy take it off and put it back in the pot. If you don’t feel like doing that then I’d check for drainage and make sure that she is fertilizing it properly

I would replace the media. Chances are it’s pretty broken down. Remove all the dead roots. Repot it in the same pot (wash it before reusing). Gently tuck the aerial roots it has into the pot and work the media around the roots to secure it in the pot. Give it a good watering afterwards and place it in bright indirect light.
