Vanda Ratchaburi Beauty I wish I had jumped into the Vanda pool sooner. They are so lovely. Makes being a pain in the tuchus to care for during the winter worth it (hope I remember that in January)

Are all your vandas grown bare rooted?

No. I put lava rock in the baskets hoping it would cut down on the need to water multiple times a day during the summer heat. It hasn’t. But I didn’t bother them either.

There are so many I’d love to add to my collection, but there’s no way I could keep up with the watering. This one is so sweet.

The watering frequency isn’t so bad, especially when they are outside. It’s the winter time fretting about unruly roots, open drippy baskets and hardwood floors that’s the tough part. But the flowers though! Actually I have seem some methods of keeping vandas in pots. But I it seems that advocates are in hot arid areas. So darn

Michelle’s HobbyDarn, I really didn’t know about the winter watering issues. I got 2 this summer blue, because it’s blue and red. Shucks, mine will probably die. I set up a shower curtain over the middle of my tub for winter care. If you have any ideas please let me know. P.S. I put a grow light in the ceiling.

My complaint isn’t that they require different care in the winter. Is more to do with different growing space. In the spring and summer they are outside and easy to care for (other than being water hogs). But when they move inside, I don’t have an effective space to water them without popping roots and I am constantly fretting about the open baskets dripping water onto our floors. It’s really just a case of me whining about the luxury of beautiful flowers. Oh woe is me 😁
