Hi! I found this orchid it’s only the leaves and some roots I’m hoping I can save it but I’m just not quite sure what to do. Some tips would be greatly appreciated 🥰

    This looks like a mule ear cattleya type. It’s SEVERELY dehydrated- the pseudobulbs are substantially wrinkled. Cattleyas are notorious for having extremely sensitive roots. They tend to completely die off when you repot if you bruise or damage them at all. That’s why it’s essential to repot at the right time- when fresh new roots are sprouting to take over and support the plant. So… tips for saving this orchid, if possible… I’d put it gently on a bed of sphagnum, and keep it fairly moist. Keep an eye out for new roots, they usually come from the newest pseudobulb. If it starts to grow a whole new pseudobulb, that one would grow the new roots- but the plant may run out of stored energy before it matures enough to grow roots. It’s pretty far gone. I’d be very interested to see how it goes for you.

    This looks like it is just dormant. Which would be why it also looks dehydrated. I would pot it up and SLOWLY increase heat and water. So as not to overwhelm it and overwater it waking it up.
