I have this moth orchid that has new growth but one leaf is much longer and thinner than all the leaves it already had. It also isn’t as “flat” like the others. Curious why this might be - too much light? Too little light?

In my experience, long, skinny leaves are generally a sign of not enough light.

Were the wider leaves those that your plant came with, and the skinny one the first one grown in your care?

      When was it last repotted?

Yes the wider ones it already had before I got it. There’s a newer leaf growing in that doesn’t appear long and skinny (so far) so I think when I moved its location a couple months ago that may have helped. I haven’t repotted it since I got it a year ago but was planning to in the next month or so

The newer skinnier leaf may have just been the consequence of the standard set back that can happen when a new orchid experiences the shock of a new environment. I wouldn’t worry unless all the following leaves grow out smaller and thinner than the older ones. Unless the medium is breaking down considerably, you probably don’t need to repot again so soon unless you see problems in the roots etc. I was asking about it in regards to timing- an abrupt change from one potting material to another could also cause the plant some shock. It, in theory, could be another cause to the change in leaf size. In your case, it’s probably a bit of both.

I read somewhere that its water related as in its not enough water, especially if growing in dry fir bark mix. I could be wrong.
