I’m so excited to share my first terrarium I’m still building on it. I have some more pink panther crassula that I’m still waiting for the roots to get bigger and then the pink nerve I propagated two out of the 3 shoots that are in there (not sure what the hell they are called stems? Bulbs? Eh whatever) I then kind of short notice put the haworthia in there on a whim. My kiddo knocked her over the other day 🥲
Hi, so I’m really new here… kinda just wondering if people have any advice for where to get plants for my terrariums? I’ve made little moss ones (that’s how I got interested in terrariums) by just gathering it around town… but I don’t know how many good terrarium plants I’ll find like that. Any advice?
Okay, I wanna propagate my polkadot plant. If I made a terrarium with soil, sphagnum moss, charcoal and rocks like a traditional, would that propagate well??? (Below is the before and after *it was shipped and is losing leaves)
A MAJOR beginner but I wanted to try and combine a small bit of my pink panther calesia dk if I’m spelling that right idc and then I have my pink nerve and am waiting on more props to root a little bit more before propping them into the soil I think in the middle I might put my haworthia she got a little broke and being closer to fall and how slow she is growing… idk what do you think? I want to put more pink panther in there but idk what else it’s a 6 inch pot I think 🤔
Hey, terrarium people! So I’m new to the whole terrarium thing and I just created these two open-top terrariums a month ago (The two main plants are a Porcelain Flower [left] and a Creeping Inch plant [right]) How do they look? Do they need any improvements? Any advice is welcome!

looking for something fun but first-timer friendly to do with this glass container it’s 12” tall and about 5” across. I can make it into an open or closed terrarium. Any ideas are welcome!🤗
I keep getting mold in my terrarium, just using a glass and adding soil, sphagnum moss and chunky perlite. How can I make it more efficient?
Hi. I just learnt that u can use terrariums and was wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to set one up. I have cats and they keep pulling my sprouts out and killing them. Looking for ways to have plants and not have them die via kitties.
Installed a grow light on my terrarium(: All the plants where extremely etiolated.
Here’s my first terrarium assembled. Thanks for the input on tank size, Wolfen! I never use my fireplace, so I thought I’d throw a terrarium in there. Used a clamp light to get the lighting sorted and a furniture dolly to let me bring it out to service it. Doesn’t have isopods, but I did buy some springtails to control mold. My girlfriend does stained glass, so I’m thinking it might be nice to hang some above the tank since I have the backlighting and it would fill the empty space. Still have some ideas for the space outside the tank, but the plants should be situated. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep it going.
I've been thinking about making a terrarium for a while now, but I don't really know where to start. Any advice, good places to get information, things you wish you knew when you started??
Finally moved my terrarium today in a nice spot, to hopefully give it the right amount of light! So far I had it in the center of the living room as it looked nice, but it wasn’t really possible to add a grow light there. I wonder if anyone has found a solution to connecting grow lights to a battery pack, or similar, in case they want to place their plants away from a power outlet.
Hello! New to the app. I was wondering how do you go about using the app for plants that you have placed in a terrarium? Unless I missed it, I don’t think there’s an Option for terrariums, so I’m not sure if the app would give reliable information. Basically, how do you approach following the suggestions on what the specific plants need outsider terrarium vs inside it? I started my terrariums 1 year ago. In it I have moss, a pink fittonia, an asparagus fern, and a peperomia prostrata. I think overall it’s lacking humidity because I see the moss and asparagus fern are dry. The peperomia prostrata seems ok as it made a lot of new leaves, but the leaves are all super small and they don’t seem to grow. The fittonia was doing great last summer but it’s been struggling in the winter. I have it in the living room where it gets plenty of indirect lighting from window on two sides of the room. But in the winter it’s really short days where I live. So my thoughts are: it need more light in the winter (probably grow lights to help) and a bit more humidity. Do you guys agree? And also how do you go about keeping the terrarium “a bit orderly” - how often do u trim plants? Do I have any “bugs in it or do I add fertilizer? appreciate any help!

Looking to start a terrarium and wanted some input on terrarium size and difficulty. Had the idea to put one in my fireplace and hide a light in the chimney since I never use it. So, I was thinking of getting a 15 gal tank since it would fit nicely. After mulling it over, I figured I’d ask if terrarium care varied much depending on tank size. Are larger tanks more difficult to care for? Would I be better off trying to make a small terrarium before I spend a decent amount putting together a 15 gal size tank and everything? Thanks!

My pellionia repens pulchra’s leaves have doubled in size since I put it in this terrarium! Great terrarium plant, would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a cool climbing plant.
