Hi everyone, I'm planning to make a load of terrariums with repurposed glass jars I've got. Excited! I've read that pilea peperomioides works well in a terrarium as they like humidity. Luckily I have tonnes of them and recently I've noticed there are plenty of teeny babies popping up, which is good timing! My question is: should I water propogate them first? Or can I get away with popping them straight in the substrate in the terrarium? (I bought special terrarium soil)

Terrariums, IMO, are the ideal propagation situation for plants that like humidity (so, not succulents). I can’t speak to whether or not pilea peperomoides does well in terrariums, but for my other terrarium plants, I just cut them, stick the stem in soil (or lay on top of soil), and they grow roots quickly. They are under grow lights. Sufficient light is needed to prevent rot. I’ve used this method with other pilea types, as well as Sonerila, solanum uleanum, pellionia, spike moss, Peperomia, and others…
