   How long have you had it? Any general tips or tricks? My daughter wants a VFT and I wondered if a terrarium might work. Did a bit of reading and it seemed like it worked for some people but not others. I’d love to hear your experience!

     I’ve had it for like half a year. I had VFTs once before but they died because of the dry air. So naturally I decided to buy more but use a terrarium to keep the moisture levels up. Honestly VFT aren’t that hard to take care of. All you need is good moisture levels or a terrarium (I got this terrarium from Joann’s, I used some weather stripping to keep the moisture in), correct soil (I 10/10 recommend sphagnum moss, the carnivorous soil will always kill the plant), correct water (used distilled water, there is like a gallon of distilled water for 1.00 at King Supers, so it’s not expensive), correct fertilization (carnivorous plants [including VFT] can not have fertilizer instead you feed them, if you are putting them into a terrarium then you will need bugs to feed them and I hate using live bugs so I just use dried mealworms from Lowe’s). For the terrarium remember to layer it because it could grow mold if you don’t. But I think having VFT would be great for your daughter! And you should 10/10 get them, I got mine at Lowe’s btw if you were interested.

     Also a VFT will always have 7-9 traps so if you see black traps just cut them off it’s alright

     Thanks that’s so helpful! Is your VFT terrarium closed or open? Well I guess if your feeding the plants it’s got some kind of access. I’ve got a fairly new but recently vacated 3 gallon aquarium … just wondering about the lid situation.
