Wolfen 🐺Oh strange, it kinda looks like the side split, instead of ithe usual breaking in half they do. For new growth to squeeze through. Is that older top portion loose? You may be able to remove it, kinda sucks to lose the older portion, but im not sure if it will live long being detached like that. I'm not 100% familiar with lithops, ive never had any issues with them. So I'm not sure if you could remove the top and replant it, it may just die off. But you'll still have the new portion growing, and no longer being hindered by the top

Not seeing it in person. If you think the cap is a lost cause. I would gently break or cut it apart to get it off.
