Okay so... My lithop fell off the windowsill, and it broke off, and I was wondering if there is any way to save it. If I put it in soil, will it grow roots?

    The answer is “maybe,” but you should try, anyway. I have had mixed results this year with Lithops in various states of life - mostly Lithops bunches where 8 of 10 plants are in trouble. Here are 2 that I swore were also mushed up and ruined, but they grew roots.

    Yea, you can try putting them in moist perlite over soil too.

    I had one that lost its tap root too. I did some water therapy on it after it calloused and it grew roots. It’s my understanding that they’ll grow roots but never a new tap root. Therefore when it begins to split you either 1. Lose the plant at that point because it sheds the roots with its leaves or 2. Find a way to keep the root somehow. I read on Reddit someone was able to keep one alive by basically regrowing the roots everytime it split. I’m not ready to give up on mine so I’ll be trying to figure it out when it comes time to split. Just keep in mind once you move it from the water therapy to make sure it still says slightly moist so the roots don’t just dry off. Anyways, wishing you all the luck with your lithops!
