I’ve my lithop for a bit over a month, I repotted it and gave it just a little water. It’s on a south facing windowsill. Like two weeks it started to wrinkle so I watered it a normal amount. Now there’s green spots on it does anyone know what these spots are? Also does it look like it’s dying or splitting? The dead thing in the middle was there when I bought it.
The wrinkle in their “stems” is normal, you’d rather have that than super fat. When the windows (or top) gets wrinkly is when you should water it—in general. You can go DEEP down some rabbit holes on their watering. Each species has its own preference. Some never get rainfall their entire lives and only take in coastal mists. Retail lithops though are mostly hybrids with the classic watering schedule. The little dried out stem in the middle is an old flower stem. You can pick it out. As far as the spots, half of mine have them. You wouldn’t happen to live in a humid climate, would you? Those spots are a plants version of scars. They could be from bugs, injury, fungal infection, split, high humidity…etc. It’s usually something I see when the humidity gets high and stays high. My money would be a fungal attack. As long as they don’t grow (and they usually don’t), you’re fine.
