Planta is advising me to water all of my lithops tomorrow (I’ve had them for about a month now) but I read a few comments on here saying not to water them if they’re splitting - but I only have one pot where they look like they’re thriving and not shriveled. Most of the pots have shriveled ones and maybe a few splitting - so I’m unsure whether to water or not?
Don’t listen to the app if you don’t feel like they all need it. Don’t water any of the splitting ones. It usually doesn’t end well for the plant. Unless the outer leaves have completely dried up and died and they come off easily. When I have just a few that need water but all the others don’t, I get the water to just be dripping from the tap and then put only enough drops to moisten the soil around the individual plant. That seems to keep everybody happy. Love the variety of colors!!

Water them lightly but don’t stop watering completely or they die. I use a squirt bottle to water around them but it doesn’t hurt them if they get wet. It’s a myth about not watering them. If you don’t believe me, Jane Evans is the botanist who brought these to US from Africa in the 80’s and she’s got a video on YouTube that is about watering them. Hope this helps you 😊
