The size of this one is laugh out loud. I picked it because I wanted to see what was happening under the hood. I didn't rip the crown apart, but I speculate this is one single Lithops with half-formed twins. The latter might have been pollinated or…do any of you good folks know before I look that up? 😋 This is from good old Home Depot in West Valley, Utah. I sniff 'em out on Sundays when everyone is at church or running 5Ks. (No offense, it’s just a fact that I learned when I collected action figures back in the day.)

    I don’t know the answer, but I thoroughly enjoy watching your lithops journey! This one is so huge!

      It’s ridiculously huge. Watching vids of cultivars is where my ability to form correct science speak ends. Walk through the Lithops garden with a little paint brush; swab the flowers, shake the seeds into other grown or seedling plants. Yes, this has been going on since plants grew on Earth, but I wasn’t paying attention until now hehe. (Ps I swabbed a cactus flower last Autumn and it closed up and died. I put that project on hold ha.) Since October, the store has these sucs inside the front door. I have to crouch down to keep the automatic doors from opening. So these and everything around are in the cold every time someone enters the store. This also means that it’s impossible for me to go there and not feel like I have a responsibility haha. “Can I talk to the manager? So, these are from a place called The Karoo, and it’s currently Summer…”

      And not to be a lurker, but your snow opuntia looks great and reminds me that I need a new one. Here is when I pulled mine out of the pot and declared it gone; two of the limbs had Scale, which I didn’t quite understand or even catch because of the plant’s camouflage. I also knocked it over probably ten times and snipped off new growth without any planing or charts.

      That makes me sad that those poor lithops are in the cold! And 😅

      And thanks on my snow opuntia! It has grown so much since I got it. But it’s also lost a decent amount of limbs every now and then, so 🤷🏻‍♀️. I’m sure it’s having an identity crisis since it’s mostly surrounded by tropicals. My love for aesthetics sometimes wins over practicality. 👀
