I’m needing all tips and tricks on keeping syngos alive?! seems like i end up killing mine eventually and it seems like its from root rot. if i forget about them and don’t obviously overwater they thrive.. what kind of medium are yall planting them in?
I only have one but i ordered 2 new ones that im waiting for. Ive had my butterly syng for 4 months and it seems to be no muss or fuss. I have mine in a soil mix with added drainage medium like perlite, castings, small bark chips, charcoal and some pon. I generally make my own mixes based on the plant. Its also in indirect light by my pothos a couple feet from the windows. It seems to be happy there.

I’ve got a couple milk confetti, a few strawberry cream, and some kind of a variegated green/silver trailing one that I pulled a piece off of at a hotel on a work trip 😏😇 All pretty much thriving. My tips: They’re more forgiving of being dry and forgotten than they are of being fussed over and overwatered. However, humidity matters. My two that are in the area with my humidifier go crazy even when I forget about them for 2-3 weeks. I’ve got one in my office getting crappy northeastern light and often not getting watered AND it’s cold in there, no humidifier— it gets droopy, yellows and drops a leaf or two; but the moment I water it real quick, it perks up and grows 2 or 3 leaves in a week. You can get them to trail, but you have to give them severely directional light and even when you do (my one in my office), it might take 3 months before the thing decides to branch and trail 🙄😤 So be patient I do 1/4-1/2 strength balanced fertilizer twice a month. Other than light and humidity— they’re almost as easy as snake plants. Nothing too crazy needed.
