Desperately trying to keep this girl alive. I have had her for four months now. She started off with a full set of blooms before they all died off. Since the beginning I put her in a pot that self waters and has an opening where the bottom of the pot receives water. I use African violet soil and fertilizer and do my best to give her indirect sunlight. A month ago she started growing buds and sprouted new flowers but now her blooms are browning and wilting again and her leaves are yellowing and drooping. So far four of her leaves have drooped. Im seeing no signs of new buds. I think I may have overwatered / over fertilized her. I want to take her out to dry, add new soil and potentially check for any root rot but I’m scared it will add too much stress to the plant and kill her. Should I leave her in her pot and wait for it to dry completely or take the chance and change out her soil? Seems like no matter how long I wait the soil stays damp.

Thanksgiving cactus in bloom.

My Flaming Katy is healthy, but I have seen no signs of buds. What am I supposed to do to change this? Also, when and how would I do so with my Christmas Cactus?

One thing that makes me feel good is a plant resuming its life after a few weeks in a new home. You can put a fish in a new tank and know things are fine the second it swims, but plants stand there with “give me a minute.” This little bump came out of its coma yesterday. Once again, succulent flowers amaze me. Note: this flower has no odor. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Some flowers just seem to love the cooler weather. These Zinnias and the Dahlia struggled through the spring and summer and I thought for sure the grasshoppers were destroying them. But look at them now 👀

A long time favourite group of flowering houseplants for me has been the kohlerias. They’re floriferous, easy to grow and propagate and they come in a range of colors and sizes with interesting spotted and dotted flowers. A bonus is that they also make rhizomes in the pot, so if you ever forget to care for them for some time (which can happen if there’s a lot happening in your life) you have a second chance of regrowing them again. This is my favourite group of flowering houseplants, which favourites do you have and why? 😊

Does anyone have experience with fuschias? My grandfather was the king of fuschias back in the day, yet I can’t seem to keep them alive. I found the soil was holding too much water and it killed off all the foliage, so I repotted in “moisture control” soil, but I think it’s still having the same issue. I haven’t watered since I repotted, and the soil is still damp. I just cut it back to encourage new growth, but i don’t know what else to do. The roots are so fine, I don’t know if a chunkier soil mix would be better? I tried an all purpose fertilizer when I first got it, but that seemed to be making it worse, so I stopped that. Send help 🆘

I recently saw someone’s post with a beautiful full Peperomia in bloom. Mine have not ever bloomed, so I was a tad envious 💚. And then this morning I noticed my String of Turtles are blooming❣️omg, how fun. Thank you to whomever posted their photo or I would not have known they were flowers/blooms 🙏🏼
