This is Gaura Lindheimeri and is native to Texas and Louisiana. Gaura is a perennial that grows from zone 6a to 9b. It blooms from spring to fall with the most blooms in summer. Its common name is Wandflower. Other names are Whirling Butterfly and Bee Blossom. This cultivar is ‘Whiskers Deep Rose.’ The native plants are 4ft tall by 4ft wide. The flowers are on tall wands with butterflies on the ends that sway in the wind like butterflies on a wire. They make great cut flowers because if the long stems. They attract hummingbirds. The cultivars can be as small as 14 inches by 14 inches like this Whiskers Deep Rose variety which grows well in pots. They grow in full sun.
