A long time favourite group of flowering houseplants for me has been the kohlerias. They’re floriferous, easy to grow and propagate and they come in a range of colors and sizes with interesting spotted and dotted flowers. A bonus is that they also make rhizomes in the pot, so if you ever forget to care for them for some time (which can happen if there’s a lot happening in your life) you have a second chance of regrowing them again. This is my favourite group of flowering houseplants, which favourites do you have and why? 😊

    It’s beautiful and so unique. I’ve never heard of it. It looks like it was a product made of excess quilting fabric!

      My favorite group of flowering house plants is hibiscus. I like all varieties especially Roselle hibiscus, a.k.a. Sorrel, in the Caribbean and sold as Jamaica Flower in many countries. The flower petals and the pod surrounding it are used fresh to make a red punch at Christmas time. It’s the egg nog equivalent in Jamaica. It’s used dried to make tea in other countries. It’s the main ingredient in Red Zinger tea. The sorrel punch contains ginger, rum, sugar and other spices depending on grandmother’s ancient recipe! Rum is the main ingredient if uncle makes it!😁

      Hibiscus plants are lovely, and also plant that’s easily to propagate and share with friends. So many amazing varieties and species out there too 💚

      The hibiscus is such an aphid and white fly and thrip magnet tho! Love hate relationship with mine. 😝

      I didn’t have bug issues with my hibiscus. I planted a gardenia bush once and that was the first I saw bugs like snow on a shrub! White flies are scary. I still love the scent of the flowers. But, I’m too scared to grow them.

    My favorites are probably kalanchoe- the flowers are so cute and they are so easy to care for & propagate! I have never heard of kohlerias, they sound neat! 🌿✨

    Orchids are mine. Initially the diverse flower forms and interesting color combos caught my attention. Then the challenge of rebloom and providing “proper” care kept it.
