Dahlias. The last time I grew dahlias was two years ago. I didn’t have Planta at the time and I cannot remember how often I watered them. This year, I am finding that Planta’s watering recommendations are infrequent. I have yet to get blooms on the bulbs I planted in the early spring. They are in individual pots. Got those who grow dahlias in pots, how often do you water them? Pics are blooms from two years ago.
I was going to say when the top of soil is dry. I looked it up to see if I was going to steer you wrong and I found 3 different answers—ranging from several times daily to my answer. I think it depends on what your weather is like and probably whether they are actively flowering and thus very fully grown. So my advice is to water when top of soil (per one source-top 1/2 inch) is dry. Just watch them for signs of over- or under-watering. You may likely get to a point when they seem thirstier (like August or September—or if you’re under extreme heat and sun)
