I’m trying so hard to be patient with my props 😅 I’ve had no trouble propagating my own cuttings for a while now, so I decided to challenge myself and buy some props of plants that I don’t have. Of course, some of the ones I’m most invested in aren’t doing so hot. The Florida ghost had a great looking aerial, but it turned out to be snapped near the stem, so that was no help. I’ve got most of them in a mix of sphagnum, perlite, and stratum. Maybe I should have gone straight water prop. It’s stressful watching the stems pucker with little to no new root growth. But I’m sure I’m not helping by poking and prodding every 15 minutes 😮💨 Wish me luck

Hi everyone, I was changing the water out it one of my monstera props and noticed it was brown on some of the roots and I was wondering if everything was okay? I’ve never seen this before so I’m just hoping it’s okay?

Can not identify this plant to save my life?! Propagated it on a beach in Georgia! Any ideas??

After six days of propagating the reverse spider plant babies, I am excited to see the roots starting to grow! I would appreciate any advice on how long I should wait before transferring them into soil. Thanks!

The nursery guy let me claw out a few random plants pieces from the nursery grounds. They look so sad and floppy. Any tips on how to keep them alive - soil, light, etc?? I don’t have indoor space - but plenty of light or shade, water or no water, zone 11a

Hi! I was just wondering if since my ghost plant is growing air roots, would it be a good time to try and propagate it? I don’t really like how tall she has gotten and I have been wanting to try and prop her, but after a mishap on my part and her scaring me that she would die, I put the idea on hold.
Now I’ve never done this before, so how would I go about propagating her from cutting? Where exactly should I cut? Will the mother plant still live even after all its leaves are gone? So many questions lol

How can I propagate this? It was two plants and now I have a plant and a cutting. Can I propagate it in water?

I messed up pretty big!
My pink princess has had a hard life… She was mailed under the worst conditions I’ve received yet. The first leaf she unfurled came out deformed. An amazing variegated leaf came out next and then we started having soil water retention issues.
The leaves formed weird “water blisters” that would pop and destroy the leaves turning them to mush. I knew something drastic had to be done fast so I switched to PON.
This little princess stabilized but then started popping out strange ultra dark, near black, leaves.
So imagine me as I see a healthy, normal colored, highly variegated leaf has grown but is stuck inside the stem. I tried to help the leaf out a little and SNAP 😭 this princess seems to have bad luck.. or is it me?
I’m fed up with the look of this plant at this point so here’s my first attempt at a couple things.
1. CHOP- I cut at the stem leaving only two good leaves 😵
2. PROP- (a) I took the only healthy leaves from the top cutting and cut them into individual cuttings with their own individual nodes
(b) all other nodes were cut individually and put into moss to attempt to propagate them as “wet sticks”
I just happened to be propagating a golden pothos which actually helps other plants root in water so I stuck my leaves in there and now only time can tell if I’m destined to have a beautiful princess of my own.

Has anyone used a heat mat for propagations before? I’ve heard of them being used for seed starting and theoretically it would help any heat-loving plant grow 🤔 But I feel like it would take a bit of extra attention to make sure the props don’t dry out too quickly. Has anyone tried it and felt like it was or wasn’t worth it?
PSA: I’m always an advocate for the use of a thermostat shutoff in conjunction with any heating device, in case anyone else wants to try it too. Safety first 😁

I’m on a roll with the posts today 😅 I finally got around to potting up some moss propagations that I’ve been ignoring for ages. Wish me luck, I’m kind of a newbie transferring from moss to soil and hope it works out. They’re in take out sauce containers (I used a soldering iron to make holes)!

New to propagating, got all of these fallen leaves from Home Depot. All but the one on the far left were planted on the 5th and I’m so excited that one of them already has a little pup growing and there’s roots with others! Cant wait to see how they develop in the next 10 days!

This is my Chinese evergreen and I just noticed this yellow leaf, does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do with it? Should I just cut it off?
