I messed up pretty big! My pink princess has had a hard life⊠She was mailed under the worst conditions Iâve received yet. The first leaf she unfurled came out deformed. An amazing variegated leaf came out next and then we started having soil water retention issues. The leaves formed weird âwater blistersâ that would pop and destroy the leaves turning them to mush. I knew something drastic had to be done fast so I switched to PON. This little princess stabilized but then started popping out strange ultra dark, near black, leaves. So imagine me as I see a healthy, normal colored, highly variegated leaf has grown but is stuck inside the stem. I tried to help the leaf out a little and SNAP đ this princess seems to have bad luck.. or is it me? Iâm fed up with the look of this plant at this point so hereâs my first attempt at a couple things. 1. CHOP- I cut at the stem leaving only two good leaves đ” 2. PROP- (a) I took the only healthy leaves from the top cutting and cut them into individual cuttings with their own individual nodes (b) all other nodes were cut individually and put into moss to attempt to propagate them as âwet sticksâ I just happened to be propagating a golden pothos which actually helps other plants root in water so I stuck my leaves in there and now only time can tell if Iâm destined to have a beautiful princess of my own.
Monstera prop coming along..
Has anyone used a heat mat for propagations before? Iâve heard of them being used for seed starting and theoretically it would help any heat-loving plant grow đ€ But I feel like it would take a bit of extra attention to make sure the props donât dry out too quickly. Has anyone tried it and felt like it was or wasnât worth it? PSA: Iâm always an advocate for the use of a thermostat shutoff in conjunction with any heating device, in case anyone else wants to try it too. Safety first đ
Iâm on a roll with the posts today đ I finally got around to potting up some moss propagations that Iâve been ignoring for ages. Wish me luck, Iâm kind of a newbie transferring from moss to soil and hope it works out. Theyâre in take out sauce containers (I used a soldering iron to make holes)! Top left: peperomia prostrata (string of turtles) Top right: Hoya macrophylla wet sticks Bottom left: Hoya tengchongensis Bottom right: Hoya krohniana black
New to propagating, got all of these fallen leaves from Home Depot. All but the one on the far left were planted on the 5th and Iâm so excited that one of them already has a little pup growing and thereâs roots with others! Cant wait to see how they develop in the next 10 days!
Trying to propagate my sisterâs somehow alive succulent. I got one down and now the tricker part: beheading
My first two successful propagations from my Swiss cheese monstera!!
This is my Chinese evergreen and I just noticed this yellow leaf, does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do with it? Should I just cut it off?
I have two questions! 1) I have this tiny bamboo plant that has been in water since probably beginning of October and I havenât seen any progress. I would like it in a pot eventually and to grow more. Whatâs the best way to do so? 2) These are the roots on my silver inch plant that Iâm propagating. When will it be ready to put in the soil and whatâs the best way to do that? Iâve seen people just go directly from water to soil but Iâve also heard that it can send the plant into shock and to slowly add soil to the water itâs propagating in. Iâm new to propagating and my mother in law brought a lot of cuttings down for me and I donât want to kill them!
Come on thru roots⊠I see you đ€©
Where exactly do I trim her for propagation?
I just bought a new grow lamp and I put cuttings of a tradescantia. Itâs been four days and it already has little baby roots!!!!
If you use a propagation box how do you ensure the propagations are getting adequate light? I see many examples on like of prop boxes in plastic tubs with moss or other medium but once the lid is on it seems too thick for any good light to penetrate. I do a lot of propagations that are spread out in my house for maximum light and donât quite understand how in a prop box they are getting enough light. I understand for the humidity it is good but Iâm missing something I think.
I am really unsure how to look after this young guy, he was a trimming from a Ficus I have in a terrarium, roots were a bit longer than this when i potted him, would really love for flourish. Any tips on what i need to do?
Thereâs probably a better group to put this in but you guys are probably constantly adding plants to planta. Is there a trick to getting your plant to have the picture you took as the cover photo? I keep getting the stock picture instead, even though it prompts me, asking if I want to use the picture as the cover photo.
Not sure what I did wrong. I let them all callous over for about five days. After I potted them up, I didnât give them any water for a few days. Then just a little from the bottom. But this is what they all look like. Is there a chance or should I just toss them?
After ACTUAL months finally teeny root growth from this satin pothos cutting!!!!!
I was given these cuttings and im not sure how to propagate them because when they were in/placed on soil they started to go mushy. Anyome have any ideas?
Any tips about potting propagated Pothos? Iâm thinking about potting one of mine soon but Iâm worried about shock or any other problems that might come up đŹ Thanks in advance đ
