Hi!! I have a beautiful sansevieria named Shoeshine and wanted to propagate him so there's more around the house 😃 I've watched quite a few YouTube videos about the best way to do this once cut - water vs soil. What do y'all think? Right now these pieces have been sitting for about a day. I heard you should let the wound dry for a couple of days, so I'll want to put them in something today. I'm thinking of trying both ways - put some in water and some in soil, then see which does better. Some people have said water props grow roots faster though 🤔 I'm just not sure. Any thoughts are helpful! Thanks! 🐢

Hi there! New plant girly and even newer propagation parent here! I accidentally killed my watermelon peperomia by overwatering her (I leaned my lesson) and decided to try to propagate her in water to see if I could bring her back. The cuttings have been in water for just shy of 3 weeks (suctioned on my window - white background put in just for the photos so you can easily see the roots) and here is where we’re at with each one! I’ve done some research on my questions below but there’s so much conflicting information I figured I’d go ahead and just ask. Here are my questions: • are they ready to transition to soil yet, or do they need to stay in the water longer? If so, how much longer/how do I know when they’re ready? • I see a few baby leaves popping up in the water - do these get planted in the soil too along with the roots, or do I wait until they’re bigger and do something else with them?? • when I do plant, I know I have to keep the soil pretty wet for awhile do get them acclimated to being out of water and in soil - do you recommended using regular potting soil for this, or do I immediately put them in specialized soil as I would when repotting a store bought plant? Just nervous here with over/underwaterjng when transferred. Any advice/help/good vibes are appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Never had this happen with philodendron, this plant arrived healthy and immediately declined. Leaves feel thin and flimsy and he wilted within hours. Any advice? Don’t want to lose this guy

I received a peace Lilly for my birthday, it has one bloom now. The roots are showing at the bottom of the pot, when should I repot it?

Hello plant friends who know way more about propagating house plants than I do. I've had most of these in RO (reverse osmosis) water for almost a month, the first pic has been in water for about 7 weeks. How am I getting little to no roots? I'm so confused. I prop catnip, rosemary, Cuban oregano, and sage this way often with no problems. In a little bit I'm going to put one stem of each into sphagnum moss because I've reached the "why not experiment" stage of frustration. Please throw all your advice at me. Thank you!

Ok so here is my question. This monstera is not that big and I wasn’t ready to propagate yet so my idea was to just get a bigger pot and place the soil up higher to cover this little node. Will that be ok or is it best at this point to cut and propagate? Also can I just stick it in soil or should it be in water first and when more roots soil? Please give all the thoughts! This is my first monstera and I want him to do well!

Got permission to take a cutting off the monstera in my office today! Brought this baby home on the train. Tips for propagating monstera?? Also - did a “vines and vibes” team event and it was a hit! BUT, we did monkey mask and pothos which are not pet safe. Any suggestions for pet safe, easy to propagate and care for plants for novice plants parents?

hello all! i am trying to propagate this section of my Monstera that broke off. it has this very long arial root and a couple small stubs. i’ve heard of people putting the arial root in water and it turns into a ground root but im afraid this is one is too long or established but im simply just a little uneducated in this area. any advice is useful, thank you!

Hi everyone! I’m new to propagating and decided to start with a lace leaf plant. I believe I did the proper trimming technique from the original plant through my own research and the plant has now been in water for just under a month (with its water being changed every few days). This is what it looks like now (see image), with new roots (?) and even a new little leaf. At what point would it make sense to transition it into soil? To my understanding lace leafs can be moved over in any season, but i just don’t want to do it too early. Thank you!

I was gifted this randomly. Planta says it’s a jade plant. Confused how to plant or keep this in water. Doesn’t really have roots and it makes a “U” shape. Should I hang it off the side of a glass or try to plant it like this? Then the leaves on the end will likely die?

I started pinning my pthos vines nodes back to the soil so it can get fuller and more vines … This is how it is after pinning some of the vines .. Lets see how the progress goes 😬😬😳

Hi friends! I don’t see an option on Planta for care schedule with seeds (vs plant). I researched that the water/sun/humidity needs are different when they’re just seeds. I planted some Thai basil seeds in a fabric planter yesterday. Wet the soil and put a clear plastic plant tray on the top to hold in water (and create humidity?). I also put a grow light over it, about 4 feet distance with 8 hours of light. I’m not sure if this is correct and would welcome any suggestions:)

I had this ZZ branch that I accidentally broke off my plant while I was repotting a few months ago. My ZZ is one of my oldest plants that my mom and sister got me when they were forcing me to recover from serial plant murdering. 😆 My ZZ was overwatered and the soil grew bad fungus and the plant started to die. I dug him up, got rid of the dead roots, threw out two stalks that had given up the ghost, and repotted the rest of the plant with new soil. I also bought another younger plant to fill in the pot. The plant is thriving now. I stuck this stalk in water because I heard it will grow roots. I didn't know I was supposed to let it sit out and callous over first. So at first the tip began to rot. When I read about callousing, I then took it out, cut it, let it callous for two days, and then changed the water in the vase and put him in again. That was all about 2 months ago. Today I saw tiny roots. Thought it was just that funky gel forming again, but no! Roots. I changed the water (it was very cloudy and a dead gnat was belly up in it), and put the stalk back to continue rooting.

Can I put an albo cutting in the same jar of water as my other monstera species?

Hi my bamboo only has this one stem, if I cut and prop do you think it will work? The one side has been cut for a year and has had no regrowth but I want to try to get some smaller branches as it is getting very tall

Hi! I have some string plant propagations that I need some help figuring out. Should I clip them to make multiple water props so they are fuller, or let them root?? Thanks for the help any other tips are welcomed
