Quick question yall! I’m new to trying to propagate plants and the only thing I have been successful with is pothos. I am trying to propagate my rose bushes and I have had zero luck. I have added pictures of the parent rose bushes I am attempting to do it with. The methods I have used is putting a cutting in water, putting a cutting in soil with root hormone powder, and scoring a branch while still on the bush + root hormone powder on the scored area and wrapping it in soil/saran wrap and left for a couple of weeks. None worked. What am I doing wrong?

This is how I do my rose and hibiscus props.. you need at least one leaf node exposed, I cut a small slit on the end going in water, dip it in root hormone and pop it through a napkin (to keep it off the bottom and edges, then fold the top of the bottle back over (humidity dome)

Dory’s method will work. I will add a few steps I found helpful. - Cut from the newest (soft wood) growth tip on a branch. The hard woody sections can take up to 2 months to root. - Begin propagation in spring to avoid the plant going dormant before roots develop. - Leave 3 to 4 nodes on each node cutting. Remove all the lower leaves except the leaves at the top node. Excess leaves pull energy that could go to root building. - Prepare and disinfect (hydrogen peroxide) all tools and equipment to avoid keeping the cut end exposed to air too long. Cut at a steep angle close to a leaf node. Roots grow at the cut end. - Dip in rooting hormone. - Change the water when it gets cloudy. It can take two weeks to 2 months to root. Add diluted rose fertilizer when roots appear. Rose fertilizers are more acidic. - Keep it in bright indirect light with higher humidity and warm temperatures. You can cover with a clear plastic bag or cloche to increase humidity. Don’t let the bag touch the leaves to avoid rot. 🪴🍀

I made the mistake of trying to propagate in early fall thinking I would have free rose bushes next year. I didn’t know roses go dormant even when potted and indoors. Heartbreaking.💔😩😆

Thank you all so much!! I don’t think I know what the node looks like on a rose bushes though 😬
