Just to be clear, I have NEVER propagated (successfully) before. I have been trying to propagate my pothos for a hot minute now and just seem to have zero luck with progress. I am also worried I’m just slowly killing it 🧍♀️ SOS

Have you been changing the water? Pothos release their own rooting hormone, so avoid refreshing the water if you can! Otherwise, I have no idea 😖
1 LikeNO I LITERALLY JUST DID THAT 😭😭 I shall refrain from now on ✋🏼

I only recently learned this from someone else on planta! Apparently, we can even add pothos to other propagation attempts and they’ll benefit from the routing hormones as well, that’s how I got my monstera adonsonii to finally root!!
1 LikePersonally I would separate the cutting into two. You seem to have a bit of rot on one stem that may improve by not having it soak in water. I’d clean that off gently. You can add about a 1/4 tsp of food grade hydrogen peroxide to bring oxygenation into the water to tackle rot. (1/4 tsp based on the size of your container.)
1 LikeCompletely agree. It looks like some of the stem is rotting. This can lead to bacteria in the water. Hydrogen peroxide can help with the bacteria. I would not save the water especially when this cutting is susceptible to rot. I would change it once a week.
