I’m trying to propagate some stick cactus. All the cutting had roots up until this week when they all rotted and fell off. They keep putting out new roots, but rotting before they become larger. Any idea what I’m doing wrong or how to fix this??

    i don’t think you propagate this plant in water! succulents and cacti usually propagate in dirt. a quick search says you only initially dip this plant in water to stop sap flow, let it dry until a callous forms over the cutting and then put into soil.

      seems like you can also do this process with water replacing dirt ^^^ but it’s harder

    yes it sounds like it doesn’t want to be water propped — try just sticking it in the dirt & crossing your fingers

    But don’t over water until it’s fully rooted. Keep succulent soil moist but not wet.
