My mom sent me home with this basil plant a month or 2 ago and she started with 3 leaves. I guess her neighbor gave it to her! But why enjoy 3 leaves when you can make multiple! I’ve loved having this beautiful plant in my propagation station she had the most beautiful flowers and smells amazing! I can’t wait to cook with her beautiful leaves!! Does she have to be in garden soil or will potting mix work???
The flowers indicate it’s going to produce seeds. Less energy will go towards leaf production. The flavor can become bitter. Pinch off the flowers and a set of leaves. Potting soil mix works well. 🪴🍀

Oh those roots look so healthy! I recently repotted my small plant into potting mid with some Vermiculite mixed in…about 1part Vermiculite to 5part potting soil. It has absolutely taken off! It’s loving this mix. Mine is outdoors with morning sun.
Oh wow!!! I want to ask her neighbor for some cuttings of different things just to see if they take off! I had no idea this basic cutting would take off like she did!!!
1 like It’s a good idea to take the cuttings soon before the temperature drops and the growing season tapers off. A lot of garden plants go dormant or die after seeding. Spring is the best time to get cuttings or starts seeds. The plants have a higher chance of success through the warm periods. 🪴🍀
