Does anybody have any ideas for how to clean up this planter? I kinda just threw all those plants in about 1-1.5 years ago and basically left it alone since then. The elephant bush and bunny ears cactus are overtaking it. I cut back and propagated them both a few months ago, but I’m feeling overwhelmed with how much the elephant bush is growing. How much can I cut back the elephant bush without it going into shock?
You can cut elephant bush back pretty severely. I've seen some of the bosai cut back to just trunk area

Your elephant brush is so beautiful and well established I would leave it. I think I’d also leave the jade? In the back left. I’d remove the others and add either a pencil plant or milk bush shown above to give it more height and some color.

0件のいいねIt looks kind of cool just as it is! The elephant food looks nice kind of hanging over the edge but you could cut it back if you wanted to bring a little control to it. And the others just take out what you don't like and leave the rest. It's really personal preference. I think if it were mine I would remove all the cacti and echeveria and put them in other pots and then cut the elephant food just enough to propagate it in the other half of the pot. It's doing so well in there it would look nice and a big bushy plant there.
いいね 1件I feel like on the whole we have not been much help to you! There's such a varied group of opinions on what would look nice. Like I said it's really down to what floats your boat.

An option you can look into is wiring your elephants bush. I have 2 Elephant bush Bonsai trees. There are plenty of ways to do it, but it would train the bush to look how you want it too.
