Propagating Orchid. Please help. Hello there, Please help! Is there any chance this Orchid can be propagated?? It now has only one green leaf remaining😔 Thank you. (It’s important to me, it was given by a friend 4 years ago who has since passed away. It was doing well untill now. I’ve been unwell since too. The caretaker of my plants has not taken care of it, with soil changes as the roots are exposed I’m told. Please help.
Propagation is definitely possible, but I'd give it some time first. Basically to propagate, you'd want to cut its long dry stem so that there are at least three roots below and above the cut. At the moment, the spot that seems ideal for the cut only has one root above it, which is why I'd let it grow a bit more. In the meantime, repot it with fresh orchid bark and try to angle it so that all the roots are in/near the substrate. (Aerial roots can get fairly long and survive, but it's hard to keep them hydrated and your current goal is excellent root health.) It's fine if the leaves end up sideways; they can do that in the wild. Orchids are epiphytes, so in nature they cling to trees. This means you want to get water directly on the roots when watering and let them dry out in between watering sessions. Never get water in the crown (where the leaves meet in the center.) Its leaves are healthy, so it should recover and grow more roots and leaves just fine. You can also remove any dead roots when you repot. 좋아요 1개And here's where you'd want to cut after it gets a few more roots (you could even do multiple cuttings if that stem is long enough) each section needs at least three roots that are at least 2-3 inches long. remember to sterilize your cutters :)
Please take it out of the soil ASAP! It should be growing in orchid bark with a touch of spaghum moss. Make sure to give it a garlic bath once a month.

I agree that it needs to be taken out of the soil immediately. I would also feed it fertilizer to encourage a flower spike in the future. It only having green leaves is totally normal- your orchid is not dying.
