does anyone have tips on transitioning from water propagation to chunky soil? also, from sphagnum moss to chunky soil? i’ve had a bit of trouble in the past!

I try to keep the chunky soil moist for the first couple weeks or so. But it is a bit of a balancing act, since we know watering too much can cause the roots to rot. Can I ask which plants in particular you’re working with? That might give me some additional ideas if I’ve propped them myself before

Those are some happy looking propagations! 😁 It looks like the ficus is good to go. And I’ve found them to be fairly sturdy plants. So you can go ahead and put it in soil, just not letting it completely dry out for about the first two weeks. Misting directly into the soil can be a good way to keep it moist without accidentally overwatering with the watering can, if you have a spray bottle I would wait a smidge longer on the heart leaf. I like to see my props’ main roots grow secondary roots forking off them before I transfer them. But other than that, it’s a hardy plant that should help you fill in your mother plant just fine I would probably leave the alocasias in moss, personally. They can be pretty fussy about repots, so I try to only do it if the growing medium is making them rot or if they’re really really root bound. But take that with a grain of salt, I don’t have nearly as much alocasia experience as some of the other folks around here. Maybe one of them with give you more seasoned advice if you post that one in the group “Alocasia Aficionados.” I do worry a tiny smidgen about the shape of the container on the left. It might become hard to remove the roots from that one later if you decide to grow the plants in there for longer

Anyway I usually pop the corms in pon afterwards so I haven’t used soil but I feel like if it’s chunky soil & you keep it moist not wet then the roots should have time to adjust fine.
