Anyone know a good way to propogate satin pothos? I have one that struggled initially but is now at least 4 ft long but has some very bare vines about a foot or so up. I've put her on a moss pole just to see if I can get some of those lower nodes to activate. She had a giant root system but other than that, she's just putting out very bare, very small leaves will she grow bigger leaves for me again once she gets rooted in the pole? Or is she just going to be all legs? Picture for reference. I didn't have a clean pot for all of it

    I was able to get two leaves from my satin to propagate in water. Originally I was worried they wouldn’t root because the leaves looked wrinkled but I gave it a bit more light and added a few pellets of osmocote to the water and now they’re ready to pot! Took much longer than my other pothos varieties tho

    It looks like it’s been growing in low light, but I see you have a grow light. Is the light a recent addition, or has it been growing like this despite the light?

      So, it was in pretty low light for a while. The newer growth is still small though and the lights gave only been in place for a few weeks, like 3 weeks max. Lights are on 12 hrs a day on a timer. They are a cheap set from temu but had good reviews. It was extremely root bound too, like 75% roots

      Oh okay, that sounds like a good improvement. It might take a little more time to see bigger leaves

    You could also consider putting keiki paste on some of the bare nodes.

      I've never heard of keiki paste. Do I make it myself or is there a particular brand?

      You purchase it! It’s a hormone paste originally made for orchids but triggers growth for a lot of plants. When you purchase it, it should come with a booklet with what plants to use it on and where. There’s different brands but I use the one in this pic. I’m still new to using it so still monitoring what I’ve used it on but a lot have had success with it.

      January 30-February 20-February 26 I put keiki paste on this nose nub that had been like that for a couple months with no growth after chopping my monstera.

    It seems like it’s still not getting sufficient light if the vines are bare and new leaves are small. Consider getting its own dedicated grow. A single adjustable ring grow light is under $20 online with a timer. You might still have root bound issues if the moss pole is occupying half the volume of the pot and cramping the roots, is my guess. I have one of these plants. It became low maintenance once I found its ideal environment. Mine likes higher humidity, bright indirect light for 10 hours , regular fertilizer and water after the soil is dry. Mine is in a hanging basket. It was never repotted. I kept it outside all summer on a covered north facing patio. I get high humidity and bright indirect light. I used Osmocote fertilizer granules. It grew larger leaves in summer. It grew small leaves this winter when I brought it inside from the cold and it got a less light and less water. See the pic. I would remove the moss pole, trim off the bald vines and propagate in water. Place the plant under bright indirect light for at least 10 hours a day. Fertilize at least once a month in colder months. Water after the soil dries out. I would put the rooted cuttings back into the original pot for a fuller plant. Good luck!🍀🪴

      Okay. It may just not be the plant for me then. I had it in an 8 inch pot with just a bamboo trellis until yesterday when I repotted it into two separate 6" pots with the poles. It's in the brightest spot in the apartment unfortunately. I live in Texas so I doubt it'll handle the patio being 110+ southwest facing, and with no humidity. May be one I'll get split up and give away.
