Hi i’m new to propagating plants, and i’ve got this pink princess that needs some trimming real bad, but im not sure how to do it or where at. or even what to use. i’ve been told to try sitting it in water after trimming it until the roots grow, but ive seen some posts on here have some good ideas but again im not too sure! any kind of help would be lovely🫶🏻🫶🏻

Propagating is my favorite part of having plants! The important thing is to cut a piece off so that there is a node (where the leaf comes out of the stem) and 2+ leaves on the propagation portion. Make sure to disinfect your scissors before you make the cut. Then place the propagation in clean water, with the node submerged. Be sure to pull off any leaves that are connected to nodes that are underwater, so they don’t rot. I personally wait to pot prolongations until the roots are 3+ inches, but everyone has their own rule of thumb. Good luck and I hope it goes well 🌱

There’s a few different ways you can propagate a pink princess. My water propagations for my PP never do great. I’m currently air layering mine and it’s doing phenomenal. All you do is take some cling wrap, and damp moss, wrap up just the stem right around the node, close it off, and make sure the moss never completely dries out. Mine was developing roots within the week. Once you’re satisfied with your root growth, cut it off, keep it wrapped, but let the piece you just cut callous over for like a day before you plant it so it doesn’t rot in the soil. It’s supposed to be easier to transplant too since the roots won’t be as brittle as water roots. However, this is my first time doing it, so if you decide to go that route, definitely look into it yourself first!
