I’m struggling!! My husband got me some starter plants for Christmas and I’m propagating them in water. Using Prop Drops and switching out water every 3-4 days with new Prop Drops. Out of the 7 plants, only 1 is rooting!!!! Some are under grow light- others aren’t (but by a window that gets part sun and no direct sunlight). They also have a humidifier. I’m adding photos and asking for so much guidance!

It could take about two weeks for roots to form on some plants. Let the cuttings sit until the water looks cloudy before changing it. I’ve never used prop drops. Can’t comment on it. I don’t add anything to the water until I see roots. Then, I add fertilizer and SuperThrive plant vitamins once a week with the water change.

in pictures 1 and 3, it looks like the leafs may not have nodes. with most plants, if there is no node then roots will not/cannot produce. in pictures 2 and 4, it looks like you have a lot of the stem above the node submerged in water. this in itself doesn’t necessarily impede root growth, however it does put the propagation at a higher risk for rot. typically, only roots and nodes can be submerged in water for extended periods of time. ideally, you want to fully submerge the node and any roots while keeping as much of the stem out of the water as possible. also the first commenter is right; depending on the plant, it could take days, weeks, or even months for roots to form. i propagated a zz plant in water from a stem+leaf cutting, and it took around 3 months to form roots. if you can see that the propagation is intact, is taking up water, and is not showing any signs of rot, then it should be fine and just needs to be left alone until it’s ready/able to form roots.

Love prop drops. It is a lower IBA % though, there are higher ones. I agree your water levels high. But it can take weeks for roots to grow, especially if lighting is low. And certain plants are just slow rooters

On pic 3 it looks like the cuttings is far gone since leaf looks like is dying also I don’t change water is better you damp some of the old water and add fresh since that will give you the oxygen the plant needs to root also you can add some peroxide to the water and will do the same and also keep the water free of pathogens ( diluted of course and only smal amount since you are using test tubes )
