When y'all chop and prop, do you delete the old plant in your apps and start fresh, or do y'all make an entry for the props but leave the original plant as-is? Or something else?

    I just divided and repotted a peace lily that was, like, 10 plants that had been slapped into the wrong media and I'm unsure how to proceed in planta 😅

      Ooo got it! I personally would probably keep using the existing entry to track the biggest of the repots and then create new entries for each plant in a separate pot, but I think in this situation you could also just start fresh if you wanted. It's really personal preference. I just love being able to easily see my old progress photos so I rarely if ever delete an existing entry

    It depends on why I'm chopping and propping—if I'm doing it with the goal of ultimately repotting the props back with the mother plant to get a fuller plant, I make a new entry for the prop(s) so I can keep track of them separately but don't delete the mother plant, and then when I pot them back with the mother plant, I'll mark the entry for the prop as "gifted" so that I can still reference it if needed (i.e. if I ever want to see the progress pictures). If I'm chopping and propping to try and rescue a plant (e.g. if it has root rot and the mother plant is unsalvageable), I will usually just keep using the entry that already exists for the plant and make a note about the chop and prop in a progress update. So I guess the answer is that I never delete the plant I've taken the cuttings from!

    I’m similar to Olivia. I keep the original, and make a note in its name (so I know easily which one my tasks are related to), and create new profiles for the props. If I add them back into the parent plant I gift the props (but make a note in their name) and then note it in a progress update for the parent that I added all the props. If I’m propping due to the parent being sick/pests etc. and I’m tossing it, I gift the parent plant (again making a note in is name) and create a new profile for the props.

    It depends, one, I chopped and propped because it was dying and I was trying to save it. That one, I just kept it as the original entry. However, when I prop babies, I label each new plant (when they get their own pot). So for example: aloe baby 1, aloe baby 2, pothos 1, pothos 2, etc.

    I split up a cactus and I've been using the one plant entry just with group photos of all the props together. But i do intend to gift or trade out all of those, so exact note taking isn't a priority with them

    I make an entry for the props and label them with a number so I don’t forget how many I’ve had after I gift them ☺️
