I just transferred my monstera from perlite to leca and within 2 weeks it rotted!! They were all healthy white roots in the perlite. What could have happened :(

    A bacteria was introduced somehow Could have been the leca. I haven’t used it myself but I’ve heard you’re supposed to sterilize it with boiling water before using.

      You’re probably right. I did let it soak for a couple days but after that i just transferred it straight to the leca. :( I’ll try boiling next time!

      I honestly don’t understand the hype around leca I use straight water. You can also use hydrogen peroxide in the water to prevent algae and rot.

    ^^^I thought I’d try something new, I’m always down for new soil mediums lol but this one might be on my bad list 😂
