Why do my propagation sometimes start to rot from the part where it was cut off and make it's way to the top? What can I do to keep this from happening? I really want to have a plant with roots that I can always see.

mgA clean diagonal cut is the way to go and after cutting let it sit out for the wound to callous can help prevent rot. Personally when I first start a new prop I check on very often and cut off anything looking yucky before it can spread :)

I do that same thing, it still roots and everything. How do I let it callous tho?

Let the cutting dry before putting it in water
