Bought this plant (pothos I believe?) exactly like this and haven’t known what to do with it. If I keep it in water, how do I keep it healthy? I don’t know how to describe much about the plant haha, I’m very very new to plants. I’ll attach more pictures, please let me know anything you notice or any advice you have!!

I’d leave it until its grown stronger roots. You’re just in the waiting game right now. Change out its water every 5-7 days. Otherwise you’re doing all you can do at the moment.

That’s great to hear, thanks! Should I be concerned about how the leaves look or are they fine?

Yes, but there isn’t a lot you can do at this point. The one with the tears is just mechanical damage, its the other one that doesn’t look the greatest. But still, I’d leave it until I can move it into a pot.

You can’t really do anything about the existing leaves. Just leave this alone until the roots really grow.

I’d like to add that you shouldn’t be to quick to change the water. The roots excrete a growth hormone, and changing the water too often doesn’t allow them to take full advantage of the chance to grow. I typically just add water to keep it full and change the water once I see it getting a little messy or every 2 weeks or so.

Oh wow I didn’t know about the growth hormone secretion. I left the water in until it evaporated a bit anyway, so I’m lucky. Good to know for the future!

Little update, I got a new leaf!! The other leaves don’t look much better but new ones are sprouting so that’s a good sign!!
