I’m propagating my pothos. I put one cutting in soil and one in water. I watered the soil with rooting hormone and put rooting hormone in the water. The last time I propagated a pothos in water the end just turned brown and mushy and no roots grew, any advice VERY MUCH APPRECIATED, thanks for helping a bumbling plant lover!!!!

    only completely change the water if there is algae growing in it, or it begins to rot. if algae grows, wipe off the plant & clean out it's cup (put it in a new one if possible). if the plant begins to rot, chop of the rotting & yellowing stem, and let it dry out for 2-3 days before putting it back in water. if neither of these things happen, simply top off the water when it gets low. pothos naturally produce excess rooting hormone, and if you let the water saturate with it the plant will root faster. best of luck!

    I know it hurts but I'd cut the white leaf off so the energy can be used for roots.

      Like the growing leaf for the one in water? Cause I never considered that but it makes a lot of sense

    When you water prop, make sure to let the cut edge dry out for a day, don’t stick it straight in water. Once the cut end is dry and has a callus then you can put it in water and the end won’t rot.

    Cut the leaves off in the water. Those nodes where the leaves were will develop roots.
