My Peru monstera props are finally growing decent roots. This my first time successfully propagating something. I’ve been watching videos on tiktok that say DO NOT PUT THE ROOTS DIRECTLY IN SOIL! They suggest using a material with more airflow (starts with L but can’t remember the name right now). Should I listen to this advice or will I be successful using soil once the root system is established enough? Thanks!

Leca? I never transition my plants, they go straight from water to soil. However, I always wait until my roots are at least 4” and have started to grow a decent amount of secondary roots.

I am a big fan of stratum. I use the Fluval brand. But have also had success with directly planting in soil from water as well. I’m more cautious with Alocasias and Hoyas (etc) and use stratum first before potting those new cuttings. I like to propagate directly into stratum. Especially Alocasia corms. 100% success so far! Here’s a few I grew from a corm.

Most recent pic. 💚 In summary…STRATUM WORKS! 😊 Good luck.
