hi!! i have this propagation of an unknown plant (maybe some type of pothos) and itâs starting to root!! Would it be safe to cut the excess stem under where the root is sprouting before planting later? Or can i plant it with the stem

With pothos, Iâd keep the excess stem. Itâs not currently rotting, so it shouldnât hurt the plant. The plant might also choose to consume it for energy later on, so it might help speed up its growth. I would try to keep that bottom leaf out of the water though, because thereâs a chance it could start to rot and that would not be great
2 gillningarIâd keep it. It looks healthy, so if you donât trim it, itâll be okay for the plant. It could also be beneficial for the plant, you never know! Unless it starts rotting or turning a weird color, Iâd recommend just leaving it alone.

this looks like a heart leaf philo to me - the way the node has the little nubs of aerial roots and the thinner stems point towards philo :)
1 gillaIf there are no nodes on that excess stem I would cut it off. The risk of rot developing on that piece would be my concern. Also it gets in the way when you try to repot.
