New to the plant world! I’ve never propagated anything before but just wondering if anyone had any tips and tricks and recommendations on plants that are easy to prop! Thank you!

IMO golden pothos are the easiest to prop!

I second pothos and add spider plants. For pothos, just make sure the cutting you’re trying to propagate has at least one node under the water. I’ve also seen people say that putting pothos cuttings in with other propagations helps them root faster, because pothos cuttings release excess rooting hormone into the water when they’re being propagated. For spider plants, once they grow their little spiderettes you can just pop them in water to root!

Most vining/trailing plants are very easy to propogate! They will readily grow roots whenever they need to. Pothos and spider plants are great ones as previously mentioned. Another great plant to grow from cutting is snake plants. You can get one leaf, cut it into pieces, and have many plants!

Succulents are easy to propagate as well. You just pop the leaves on top of soil, give them good light & leave them be until they grow babies & the mother leaves start to shrivel. 😊 And for my other propagations, I prefer to use perlite & water. So I get a little pot with drainage holes to fill with perlite, and then a solid pot/cup to set that inside of. Keep the exterior pot about half full with water. I like using clear pots so I can see when the roots are growing. Once you have about 2 inches of a main root & secondary roots growing off it, you can put in soil. I like the perlite better than straight water because the roots it grows tend to transfer to soil better than water roots. And to keep learning, research online. So many YouTube videos & plant influencers on Instagram. I’ve found a lot of help watching them 😊

When I was first getting into plants the first plant I propagated was my monstera! Not THE easiest but still pretty easy to propagate, also they grow really fast so it gives you that quick plant parent dopamine boost! 🌿🎀

Pothos (any) and string of hearts were really easy to propagate! For tips, a good amount of indirect light and a change of water once a week seems to do the trick for me.
