I’m looking to propagate my polka dot plant that I recently bought and the cuttings aren’t doing well ): any recommendations on propagating this plant? ☹️

    I read that these don’t necessarily have nodes and that most said to cut any where on the stem

    They are dramatic as hell. When I propagated mine they looked like this for a while till they got roots. Then they perked up. Make sure to put them in a very sunny place, but no direct light. After they get root give them a tiny bit of liquid fertilizer.

      Good luck. Out of four cuttings, three of mine made it. They are just such dramatic babies.

    I’ve learned that it’s estimated 50% of all cuttings make it through propagation. Also where the leaves attach to the stem, cut the leaves off and put that part under water. It will grow roots where it was cut

    I’ve been working on a few polka props for a few weeks now, and a couple of them have just now started rooting. They are SO dramatic; you’ll think they’re next to death one day, change their water and the next day they’re all “oh HAIII!” Just be patient, I’m new to props and thought for sure I’d screwed then up, but no. They’re just drama queens who prefer to be fashionably late 😂🙄

      I’ve found that with a small opening and the leaves covering it like that, they seem to run out of oxygen in the water faster, and need topped off more often since there’s such little water in the neck of the bottle. I keep them topped off almost daily and change their water every 3-4 days, and they’re doing great 🩷

    Update they’re actually doing well!! Thanks for the tips everyone - they were dramatic and I just had to wait for roots to grow 😂 this was taken about a week ago so they‘be improved since this picture!
