I didn’t know these grew flowers. I also didn’t know these would grow a whole new vine. I’m just wondering how do I cut it and when should I cut it? I figure I should use it to start a new spider plant, but I don’t know exactly what I’m doing.
The flowers will turn into baby spider plants, a.k.a. spiderettes. Wait until the aerial roots get to be at least a half inch before rotting in moist soil. Water after the top one inch of soil dries out each time. I don’t keep the soil constantly moist to prevent root rot. Fertilize twice a month with 50% diluted fertilizer. Rooting in soil gives stronger roots. But, you can also root in water. Fertilize while it’s in water. Change the water at least once a week or when it gets too cloudy or smells swampy. Note that fertilizer in the water will grow algae faster and makes the water cloudy. It’s normal. Plant in soil after the roots are two inches long. The photo shows 2” long aerial roots on the baby spider plant. I planted one straight into soil to produce the spider plant shown. 🪴🍀
