Are there any herbs, readily available in the produce section, that might be coaxed to grow? I don’t like to buy fresh herbs in clamshells but I have to. That’s my first reason for starting to grow plants. This year, I’m going to be ready for fall and holiday cooking. This is Basil. He was saved from becoming white bean salad. He was a living plant though, wrapped in a cloth, not a clamshell.

I think any non-woody stemmed herb can be prop’d like your basil. Mint for sure can, that’s how I got my first mint plant actually! Looks like your basil is about ready for soil too! He’s got pretty long and strong looking roots. Great job!!! 🤩

That’s a great idea! I am really looking for things that smell good! Basil isn’t that good! I’m going to make mint beverages this weekend and give it a try. Thank you!

You’re welcome! Hope your prop exploration is successful!! I personally would try it on any herb I got just to see if it would work, you only really need a 2-3” piece to try it out. For mint, only do containers for it. Don’t plant it in the garden unless you want a lawn full of mint. (It takes over!!!)
