I have a seed from a Texas Mountain Laurel. I live in South Dakota and was reading up on this and how hot it likes temperatures. South Dakota gets too cold for it to be outside (average lows of 10 F but last winter we hit negatives multiple weeks in a row) as the laurel only can manage to about 10 F minimum, but does anyone have any tips for possibly growing it indoors? Or maybe starting it indoors and putting it outside after it has steady growth? I am pretty new to plant care so any advice would be appreciated 😅

    Maybe keep it in a pot you can bring in for the winter? Or make sure to wrap it well for the winter. We get freezes and ice storms in north texas and they still grow here. Def nothing compared to Dakota cold tho so the repeated freezing would kill it. After a while laurel get big but they do grow slowly so growing it in a pot that comes in for the winter should work in theory. (I live in Texas)

      Oh my gosh, that is super helpful, I didn’t even think of the option of wrapping it. I am going to go with your advice. For my own curiosity, if i were to bring it in for the winter do they need a period of cold, like should i leave it out for fall with those cooler but not crazy temperatures, and then bring it in? Would that be healthy for it?
