First leaves from my Scindapsus cuttings finally unfurled. Only took a cool 3 months 😅. Think I’ll wait for a second leaf before replanting with the mother plant. These two Jade pothos props have been in water about the same amounts of time. Was being lazy on potting them up. Added them with some other cuttings so the new plant should fill out nicely. Going to try some Maranta props next. Not sure if all of these cuttings have viable nodes, so we’ll see!

How do you keep your Calathea from browning around the edges? Mine is stubborn. I have it next to a humidifier already.

What type of water do you use? You likely already know this, but Calatheas can be sensitive to the minerals in tap water. Tap water is very hard where I’m located. When I swapped to distilled water + humidifier + consistent water habits, I stopped getting brown edges on new leaves. I’ve now transitioned from distilled water to tap water treated with aquarium conditioner. Only takes 2-3 drops per gallon. I premix gallon batches of fertilizer and silica. I sometimes add root stim or beneficial microbes to the mix. I dilute that to 30-40% strength and use that for every watering. I water every 6-7 days on average when the pot is light.

Oh wow thank you!! I started filtering my tap water but I never thought of the aquarium conditioner! I’ll try all of this out! Thank you and yours are gorgeous!!!

This is what I’ve been using for the aquarium conditioner. $4 on Amazon for the bottle. I’m sure you could find it at petco or any pet store. If you try fertilizing with every watering, start on low side at like 20% dilution and monitor how your plants respond. I’ve increased to 40ish percent over the course of few months. Good luck!

So do you think this would be okay with liquid fertilizers? Like the miracle grow liquid ones?

Yup, works fine with liquid fert. Just follow the recommended dosages and dilute to the level you want. I use Dyna Gro Foliage Pro for example.
