Any hoya propagation experts in the house? I have 18 varieties of hoya and have tried to prop almost all of them…. and failed each time lol. I’ve tried so many methods. I can prop just about anything successfully, except a frickin’ hoya! Please tell me the secret 😭

Mine do best in sphag moss. Make sure I’ve got lots of nodes and a mature cutting. I also usually put them under a grow light as well.

Do you cover them? or just open air and keep the sphag moss damp?

If they smaller single leaf props then I’ll cover them, otherwise I don’t.

I’ve had a lot of success propagating single leaf cuttings in water with a little bit of fertilizer and hydrogen peroxide.

I have success propagating several hoyas in water. I add very diluted fertilizer and SuperThrive plant vitamins when the roots appear. It could take a couple of weeks for the roots to appear. I change the water about once every two weeks unless it’s too cloudy. I use a cutting about 4”- 6” with several nodes below water and 2 leaves on top. Extra long cuttings take longer to root. Mine are in a north facing window. Grow lights will help. Humidity is always high in my area. 🍀🪴

I've been doing mine just in a water prop. With 'Prop Drops' these are 2 weeks old. They could actually do with way more light. They are across the room from either window. Black margin, Eskimo, curtssii, porcelain, and crimson pink princess. The last two are always really slow to root.

I have been propping mine successfully in perlite with a lid on in these containers. I just make sure there is always some water in the bottom. There are openings/handles on either side so it’s not completely airtight.

I also throw other props in there as well and it seems to work for most plants.

I got the containers at Target, they are pretty inexpensive and stack nicely.

I just realized it’s those produce containers with the inner slotted container- so smart! Literally leaving for target as I type this 🤩
