Hiya! Looking to propagate some plants of mine to give as gifts for Christmas this year. Hoping they’ll be “full” looking in time if I start now. Going to try Chinese Money plant, ZZ, crotons, a variety of succulents, pothos, etc.. Curious what your guys’ advice are on how to go about each one. Have you had better luck in water? Spagmoss? Soil? My snake plant grew ROOTS in almost 1-2 weeks while I’ve had others take 2+ months. I know it’s quite the variety but I want to do what’s best for each one so I have success come December. TIA!!!

Also if anyone has any low-light potentially pet friendly plant suggestions I’m happy to buy some to then propagate as most friends have cats that munch

I don’t recommend trying the Zz unless you have a large plant that you can split. Zz takes foreverrrr to prop. I think you’re going to have trouble getting a full look before christmas. As we get nearer winter and we get less light, your plants aren’t going to grow very much — not to be a downer 😅

Thank you for the honesty! I’ll start the ZZ and just not expect it for Christmas giving 😂 I live in FL so hopefully my hot (AF) weather helps them hang on a while longer. I do have one grow light as well if that aids in props?

a full spectrum grow light will definitely help 👍🏻

I agree with the slow zz propagation. I have one that I started about 1 year ago and I am still waiting to see new growth on it.

Christmas cactus is a great one to prop. My mom has three big mother plants and from fall off I have gotten a full plant in just the last month+

For pothos I just cut a part off that has multiple leafs and put in a jar of water, once it has roots plant it in fresh soil
