I usually wait til about 3-4 inches long and bonus if it has secondary roots (smaller roots growing off one root)

I’ve found that it’s good to make sure the roots fit in the pot you plan to eventually put them in. Several of mine had large root systems (I forgot about them!) and the roots started out a bit crowded.

I’ve grown quite a few Pothos and other plants that were rooted in water, and as long as I have plenty of long roots, I’ve never had a problem. I popped them into a good potting soil and every single one of them has grown into adulthood. Pothos are super hardy. Good luck.
